I Cellisti, the student cello ensemble of the String Academy of Wisconsin at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, offers a wide-ranging program of solo and ensemble works by Bach, Verdi, De Falla, Johann Strauss the elder, Astor Piazzolla and David Popper. Formed in 1998 by String Academy of Wisconsin cello faculty Scott Cook, I Cellisti has earned regional and national renown for its rich sound, virtuosity, and varied repertoire. The group of eight cellists is comprised of students aged thirteen to eighteen, many of whom will go on to pursue music careers at the finest music schools and conservatories in the country. I Cellisti has been the featured ensemble at the Florida Cello Festival at the University of Miami and the American String Teacher's Association Expo; has performed on Wisconsin Public Radio and for the Civic Music Association of Milwaukee and on Racine’s Music and More Series. The ensemble is planning a tour of South Carolina in the spring of 2013. Kartik Papatla, Katie Wasielewski, Christian Morzinski, Allen Kang, Ross Nevin, Samuel Lee and Steve Wasielewski are the current members of I Cellisti.
